Pentecost
This year Pentecost Sunday is May 11. The feast of Pentecost closes out the Easter season. It clebrates the overwhelming experience of God pouring out the Spirit upon the first community of those who believe Jesus was the Lord and Christ (see Acts 2:1-4). Pentecost is called, therefore, the birth of the church or the birth of the church's mission. The color of vestments and decorations for Pentecost is red. It symbolizes the intense lobe and fire of the Holy Spirit. Plan to wear something red to Mas on Pentecost!
Prayer for Pentecost
Spirit of God, you are stirring in our hearts. You urge us to get going. You prompt us to follow. You encourage us not to give up. You call us to open our minds and our hearts to receive your energizing, transforming radiance. Make us receptive so that we will follow your loving movement within our lives. We trust in your powerful presence within us. Amen.
