As a community we are abundantly blessed and what better way to give back than to perform Corporal Works of Mercy, by feeding the hungry and to give drink to the thirsty.
For almost 90 years, men, women, and children in need have been coming to the landmark “Red Door” located in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh to receive a bagged lunch as well as to be encouraged in the gift of hope. The Red Door program was started by St. Mary of Mercy Church in response to the Great Depression in an effort to provide relief to those struggling with financial adversity. All were welcome, no questions asked, and the tradition still continues today with people lining up to receive a free lunch.
To offer more information we are having a virtual meeting on Tuesday, August 18th at 7 pm.
